Fiesta Brava's Top 11 Albums of 2012 Why 11 albums? Well, this year saw a lot of albums tied for the same place, so in the spirit of inclusion, we include all four albums tied for eighth place in our list. Overall, it seems like a weird year for music. Several of the bands that all four of us love did not put out anything this year, so in this list you see a lot more variation based on individual members’ tastes, and those higher up on the list are usually loved by about half the band—for example, A.C. Newman is a favorite of Ray’s and Jeff’s, Godspeed is a favorite of Ray’s and Matt’s, and Bob Mould is a favorite of Chris’s and Jeff’s, etc…. Also, a side note: the Gomez album listed here is a download-only album available on the band’s website, and it is free. We only mention it because you won’t find it through more traditional means. In any case, consider this a list of albums you should check out if you haven’t already, and a very Happy New Year to you from Fiesta Brava! We’ll see you in 2013… 8. Knock Knock Get Up by David Wax Museum 8. Live Volume 3: Los Angeles 10.5.11 by Gomez 8. On the Impossible Past by The Menzingers 8. Skeptic Goodbye by You Won’t 5. Break It Yourself by Andrew Bird 5. Handwritten by The Gaslight Anthem 5. Noctourniquet by The Mars Volta 4. Silver Age by Bob Mould 3. ‘Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! by Godspeed You! Black Emperor 2. Shut Down the Streets by A.C. Newman 1. Port of Morrow by The Shins
